What's your favorite piece of GD music?

#17191 3 years, 3 months ago
Let's hear it. AND GET SPECIFIC! What is your favorite entry in the grateful dead catalogue? I didn't want to be too specific and say what's your favorite song...in other words, don't just tell me "Weather Report Suite", I wanna know which part..is it the prelude, the jam from Part I into LIG, the LIG outro jam?

For me, my favorite piece of GD music is the > in between Chinacat > Rider. I love 'em jazzy and full of Jerry-Bobby interplay. Check out the Winterland Chinacat > Rider from 2-24-1974 for the most brain exploding transition i've ever heard.

I love a wild Spanish Jam or A nice Mind Left Body Jam out of a Terrapin.
Playin in the Band has a part in the Jam that's like a Ship sailing out to sea, I always loved a good Playin' Jam as well

I like the jam's used to connect the songs. Seems like it's a favorite with a lot of folks. Like "Slipknot". Those transitions seems
to really take you places, then bring you back. The pieces that hold the Terrapin suite together are very special.
I can't come down, it's plain to see.
I can't come down, I've been set free.
Who you are, and what you do,
don't make no difference to me.

The second jam in Jack Straw is my favorite piece of Dead music. I loved the way it changed over the years. So many good jams...

Those who hear not the music. . . think the dancers mad.

nada, as it would indicate there is a "least favorite"
