I was bitten by a poisonous snake in Vt as a kid and have been wary of em ever since.
Black widow spiders creep me out more, though and are more of a threat day to day in my gardens.
Once I saw big ole toad crawling slowly with a weird look on it's face. As it took more steps I realized a snake had 1/2 of the poor toad in its mouth and a slow kill was taking place. I chose to work on the other side of the garden the rest of the day, didn't want to intervene or witness more that I had already.
