Sorry, for stealing this, just liked the phrase.

Anybody read the Relix article on Furthur?.......pretty interesting

According to it, Phil and Bobby were sitting around after arranging the band and Phil says "all we need now is a name" and then Bobby says "we already have a name, Furthur" and "that was it" they say "just like Jerry and 'how about the Grateful Dead?'"

How is that the same thing?

As for them being a cover band, they most certainly are a cover band. How are they not? They are basically playing the repertoire of another band. THAT is a cover band.

Furthur was the name of Kesey's bus.

I'm not the one who said it was like the same time, Phil did and It's quoted in the Relix article.

You know like how people get deja vu? Thats what he meant, When Bobby said "we already have a name, Furthur" it was like the time when Jerry just out of the blue said "how about the Grateful Dead". Thats what he's saying. and nobody is saying that Bobby thought up the name either, everybody knows its the name of the bus.
