Another thing that goes out on Subaru's fairly on schedule is the timing belt. If your car is hard to start or idles rough or anything like that it could be the belt.

First thing I thought of, was fuel filter. But a full tune up should take care of it. Good luck with it.
I can't come down, it's plain to see.

while a tune up is nice you would have noticed rough idle and a slow loss of gas milage something fast and drastic is indicative of something serious i fear, the timing belt is def supposed to be changed every 100k im betting head gasket i hope not tho good luck lets us know what the doc says hope charlene feels better soon

Air Filter...but that is a given with a tune up.

My guess, is that is most likely an accumulation of small things, But if you have also noticed a loss of power it could very well just be the fuel filter.

i've noticed the mileage going down really since i came back from the west coast sometime in october...have definitely felt a loss in power...doesn't accelerate onto the highway like she used to, and i drive highway daily. i've got a good feeling about her

Lack of acceleration and poor gas mileage sounds exactly like a fuel filter, Lots of people don't realise that Fuel filters should be replaced everytime you change the oil, After all they do get their fair share of utilization.

We might have picked up some dirt in the tank at some shifty desert gas station

I don't know shit about cars, but I am a Subaru owner also (05 Outback) and I too love my car. I hope that it's nothing major, good luck!
