Cumberland Blues was one of those songs that they seemed to so consistently nail that no one jumps out in my experience.

This one, however, from Roanoke 7.7.87 did stick because of its second tune, second set placement after a West LA opener.

Rob:

Here is one of my favorite shows. First year of attending shows. What a treat. I wish Ii saw this show when I knew what they were all about. Hard to appreciate a show as hot as this being an infant head. Great CB as well as the rest of it.

In fact I must insist politely to stop what you all are doing, do not pass go, do not collect 200 bucks until you give this whole show a listen. Download it and cherish this GEM from 84. A year with some sloppy shows. This is a nugget.

I just listened to a fun one 41 years ago today. I love it just no nonsense rockin and rollin. Usually if I am looking for the best version of a song, if applicable, I go straight to 68 - 72 first In fact that whole 6 night run 2/18 - 2/24 1971 in Port Chester, NY is so good, one of my top 5 favorite runs. The 18th debuted 5 new songs for crying out loud - GSET, Loser, Bertha, Playing, and Wharf rat Holy flippin' cow! Whoops sorry to get off subject, but if you can, check these shows out! I'll mail ya the flacs/shns if you'd like..

TS, Really good point about the the steadiness on this song. Every version I have heard I have liked and same goes with Furthur. I also really like the "New" Phil & Friends version. The vids and links are really sweet & THANKS!
DTR, Europe 72 is my favorite vocally of all of them I just love everything they did year.

I gotta say P&F version at Broomfield was excellent, sans Jerry's voice and intonation, of course leave it in a lower rank than say:

perhaps '72 or '77 better, depends on your mood, this '84 quite ripe.

You're lucky! I love Augusta 84. That 10/12 show is phenomenal.
