Festivals in Arkansas

#124718 2 years, 6 months ago
Stop in Arkansas on your way across the country for two important venues. Of course Wakarusa at wakarusa.com with Wier, Robinson and Greene this year and the lesser known but highly rated King Biscuit Blues Festival at bluesandheritagefest.com. The 2011 lineup is still posted so check back for the 2012 lineup. Touch, a Grateful Dead tribute band appears most Monday nights at Stickyz in Little Rock. stickyz.com

I'm just sayin'

Is the King Biscuit Blues Festival related at all to the old King Biscuit Flower Hour they used to have on the radio?
Takin' it in stride!

That's right. The longest running radio program in history is the King Biscuit Time sponsored by...King Biscuit flour. King Biscuit Time started in 1941 and is still on the air...every day. The King Biscuit Flower Hour was an off shoot of King Biscuit Time. The Flower Hour that some of us remember was more rock and aired from '73 to '07. The annual King Biscuit Blues Festival is in West Helena, AR where the radio program started. I have not been to the festival...yet, but I did drive thru the town and saw good stages and a cool bluesy downtown street. And...right across the river, the big river, are many casinos. So there are rooms and gamling and blues. What more could you want...I know, just kidding...play Dead!

Thank you FurthurFlower!!

Yup, I shall go see the Grateful Dead cover band in Little Rock...soon! You did tell me about Byrdfest, but I forgot, I guess all the fun and excitement in Broomfield caused it to slip my mind.

Any way, thanks...and as always...Play Dead!
