scarletfire, school is going great I've been super busy with classes and school work and then my part-time job so I haven't been able to hang around the boards as much as I'd like but I have never seen Donna Jean and Jeff I bet that would be a pretty good show. Jeff is fantastic and he always looks like he's having a blast, I love that thick, bluesy tone he has.

Are you gonna be at any of the Beacon shows?

DSO is fantastic I've been seeing them for years and years now and they were always my go to band for Grateful Dead music when one of the off-shoots wasn't on tour and my girlfriends family being friends with them helps too!

But can visitors to Amsterdam smoke at and frequent the coffee shops still? I know that the government was trying to pass legislation either banning or greatly restricting the availability of ganja to tourists. Check up before you go and get any needed paperwork, if necessary, in order to enjoy the fruits of the country's gardens. But it looks like yo have to be a Dutch citizen....

In May 2011 the Dutch government announced that tourist are to be banned from Dutch coffee shops, starting in the southern provinces and at the end of 2011 in the rest of the country.

"In order to tackle the nuisance and criminality associated with coffee shops and drug trafficking, the open-door policy of coffee shops will end," (the Dutch health and justice ministers in a letter to the Dutch parliament)[2]

A government committee delivered in June 2011 a report about Cannabis to the Dutch government. It includes a proposal that cannabis with more than 15 percent THC should be labeled as hard drugs.[38] Higher concentrations of THC and drug tourism have challenged the current policy and led to a re-examination of the current approach; for eg. ban of all sales of cannabis to tourists in coffee shops from end of 2011 was proposed but currently only the border city of Maastricht has adopted the measure in order to test out its feasibility.[39] According to the initial measure, starting in 2012, each coffee shop was to operate like a private club with some 1,000 to 1,500 members. In order to qualify for a membership card, applicants would have to be adult Dutch citizens, membership was only to be allowed in one club.

and don't forget

As of December 1, 2008, all psychedelic mushrooms are banned.

Thanks for all the input everyone! I'm definitely looking forward to this. I didn't even know about this mini festival until yesterday and I decided I just had to go. There are videos on the website from previous years and it looks like a blast. This gives me more of a reason to visit Amsterdam again too! I was there for 1 day last year...as far as the smoking goes...we were able to get our herbal fix no problem as well as a psychedelic kick...Im not sure what the laws are now but I dont plan on partaking this time around so no worries. From what I remember, personally I have seen more impressive herbage in Colorado... Scarlet Fire, Ive seen Moe. once before as well at the Mile High fest in colorado. They blew me away! I never heard of them before and I decided to watch their show and they were probably the hardest rocking act there. I was really impressed when they all decided to switch instruments and still proceeded to blow everyone away.
