A credit card with a big limit! Seriously! Also DO NOT forget your CDs, better yet, have an ipod loaded down with music. Our last road trip to Cali, the speakers went out in the motorhome. It became an immediate emergency to get them fixed! Tons of good music is one of your better friends on the road! Another good friend is a GPS or an internet connection (iPad, iPhone). Finally, ALWAYS know where your stash is. There's nothing worse than being pulled over and it hits you - oh shit where the fuck is the ....
I went walkin' out last summer
Tryin' to find a breath of air
I went walkin' on the mountain
A friend had told me I'd find you there

be covert when traveling from show to show.
make sure everything on your vehicle is legal and in 100% working condition.
late registration, tail light, head light, even a license plate light out will get you pulled over and possible searched - never good.
be adaptable to any and all situations.
use your improvisational skills when in doubt.
be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.
be polite, kind, and use your common sense, and you should be fine.

I plan on touring this summer as well. maybe i will see you out there...
iLove,

Listen to the advice of older heads. They are wise, and most importantly, they really only want you to enjoy the experience.

Wait a minute, I thought we were only being nice to the young ones so they'd push our wheelchairs to shows if we need them to?!

To the great advice from dept. I would add if you take any riders get the gas money up front. Also, bring along a couple of spare car keys, and put one in one of those magnetic boxes and hide it on the car's body somewhere. Don't be the first or the last car to leave the lot. Eating healthy is important and easy to forget to do.

Good luck, and have lots of fun! Going on tour is the best way to see the U.S.!
