High on a Mountain is NOT an original... It was written by a friend of mine, Olabelle Reed. Furthur has tweeked the lyrics, but so has everyone else that has covered it. Marty Stewart won Ms Reed a Grammy in the 70s for his recording of it.

that being said, my vote goes to Big Bad Blues! =)

Original songs by band members post GD? I love these: Two Djinn, No More Do I, Colors of the Rain, Welcome to the Dance.

I love Mountain Song but didn't think of it as original because when I first heard it I was so excited to recognize it from the PERRO sessions.

Mountain song is so special to me. The starting lyrics are

" I went walking out last summer.. Tryin to find a breath of air.. I went walkin on a mountain.. Friend told me id find ya there."

when I first heard it was last year in and my first dead show was the dead 09 denver May 7th. I indeed went walkin on a mountain and found my breath of air : ) and ive been riding that breath of air ever since.

that reminds me that the bobby symphony show is on May 7th. so itll be like my two year show reunion. Cant wait !

I like a lot of the songs from PL&F's and Ratdog too
Money for Gasoline , Again and Again etc.

I'd like to see Furthur try Even So and Welcome to the World

Mountain Song is built from the Crosby "IICORMN" Perro sessions I believe.

I know it started with Rat-turd, but I really like Money For Gasoline....a lot.
