I saw the Rust Never Sleeps tour. One of my top ten best concerts (excluding the Dead).

I love Cortez the Killer!! Neil Young is just so POWERFUL!

Down By The River is the one Neil Young song that gets in my head. It also kinda haunted me the summer of 2009. I just rememeber I kept going to shows and all the bands were covering this one song. Crazy...

And you can't forget about this one!!

I was a fan of Neil's before I even got into the Dead. As a singer-songwriter myself, Neil has always been a huge influence on me. Don't Let it Bring You Down is definitely a favorite. Also, check out Danger Bird!!

Remember cassettes? I used to have Time Fades Away and On the Beach on one cassette, After the Gold Rush and Harvest on another, American Stars & Bars and Hawks and Doves on another, and Trans & Reactor on another. I'd listen to those pairings in my car until the tape wore thin and then make new copies. I still associate those albums with their pairs.

Also, check out "Life" if you haven't yet. A hugely underrated album with some fantastic songs. Like many Neil albums, it is kinda dated lyrically (very topical), but it is so good. My first Neil concert was the "Rusted out Garage" tour in 1986. Brilliant!

I wish they'd reissue Time Fades Away.

Neil Young posts 37-minute long collaboration with Crazy Horse online

Neil Young has posted a 37-minute long collaboration with his band Crazy Horse online, which is currently streaming at Neilyoung.com.

The sequence is titled 'Horse Back' and was recorded at Audio Casa Blanca studios on January 6 this month. There is no confirmed tracklisting, but over the course of the track's video, lyric sheets are shown for songs that are titled 'Gallows Pole', 'Clementine', 'This Land', 'Oh Susanna!','She'll Be Coming Around The Mountain' and 'Gotta Travel On (Done Laid Around)' .

It is not known whether the collaboration is a preview of the album that Young was known to be working on with Crazy Horse or old material that was previously unreleased.

Canadian singer songwriter Young, who released his last solo album 'Le Noise' in 2010, recently hit out at the sound quality of modern recorded music, describing the sound of modern records as "the worst we've ever had".

He said of this: "I'm finding that I have a little bit of trouble with the quality of the sound of music today. I don't like it. It just makes me angry. Not the quality of the music, but we're in the 21st century and we have the worst sound that we've ever had. It's worse than a 78 [rpm record]. Where are our geniuses? What happened?".

Neil Young and Crazy Horse are going to play at the MusicCares Person of the Year Gala honoring Paul McCartney on February 10th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Other acts on the bill of the Grammy weekend charity concert include Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, James Taylor, Alison Krauss, Tony Bennett, the cast of the Beatles LOVE, and McCartney himself. Eddie Izzard will host.

This will be Neil Young and Crazy Horse's first public performance since the Greendale tour wrapped up in March 2004. The group has reportedly wrapped up work on a new studio album, and just recently they posted a newly recorded 37-minute jam on Neil Young's official website that wraps up with an epic rendition of "Cortez The Killer." There's no word about a tour for the group, but it's probably a safe bet that they'll hit the road at some point this year.

Neil Young toured regularly with Crazy Horse regularly between their formation in 1969 and the Greendale tour of 2003/04, but over the past eight years Young has turned his attention towards other projects. Many fans worried that the group would never tour again, but Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina recently wrote on his Facebook wall that he had no such fears. "We were just grazing," he wrote. "But never gone!"

Albuquerque. Never saw NY perform it but I did see phish tear it up at Alpine Valley. I saw NY at Pine Knob with Blind Melon and Soundgarden open for him. NY's band that night was Booker T and the MG's AWESOMENESS!!!
