Favorite Kind Of Hummus...

#115233 2 years, 8 months ago
Mine is Roasted Red Pepper. I have eaten almost an entire... ummm... plastic, puck-shaped thing of it tonight using pita bread as little scoops. G'dam this stuff is good. I usually go with "Vegetable Lover's" or "Original" flavor but I think this is going to be my new go-too hummus.

Goes good with Long Trail Ale too, BTW.

I've made two bad batches of hummus lately. I follow the directions, but it comes out more like mud or concrete. I may be using to much tahini, 3 tblsp. Plus I haven't been blending it in a blender, I've been smashing it with a whisk.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

It may be a challenge to get it really smooth without a blender or food processor. Put some olive oil in, if you're not already, to smooth it out a bit.
Homemade is best, but I like the Kalamata olive kind at the store. I'm in the heart of the highest Middle Eastern population in the country, so lots of good hummus and other offerings around here!

You're right Sue, I need to blend it in the blender. I haven't been doing that, and it ends up like mud. Tasty, but bad texture. You know us foodies and our texture. Thanks.

Roasted red pepper. Love this thread ! I worked at a falafel joint once and dipping French fries in hummus was something to pass the time- Sprouts and hummus on some hearty bread is delicious too!!

Yeah, roasted pepper is most delicious. Just keep the covers pulled up tight to your chin at night!
