1982 and 1994

Dont knock the 1994. Like I mentioned in another thread about the last years, this is a nugget.

Manor down is just awesome all the way around.

Many have written and talked about it, but if you haven't heard it for yourself, prepare for a sonic exorcism. If you happened to be at SPAC, 6/18/83, then you know what I'm talking about. This racious version (along with the rest of the wild 2nd set) exemplifies the sheer power of the Grateful Dead. Thankfully, there were a couple avant guard tapers in the house that night, armed with (then) cutting-edge PCM digital recording technology. They were able to capture what the band's inferior cassette recorders couldn't. These aren't the finest recordings ever made but it doesn't really matter. I urge you to put on your best headphones, kill the lights and meld into one of the most incredible 27+ minutes ever captured on tape.

I was not there, but this is one of my favorite tapes. Great Playin' and Dew, as well!!! I do wish the SBD existed somewhere.

This sight is fun and interesting, but I take serious issue with the contention that almost nothing good came after 1978. Depending on the song, most TOP versions are pre-1977. If you* cannot find TOP versions of those songs in the 1980s and 1990s then you simply are not listening to enough from that era, and thus, limiting yourself in a big way.

But I guess that is a debate worthy of its own thread.

*(Not YOU specifically, but in general, mind you).

Cool list, I was at the Spectrum honorable mention (first show I saw), I remember being blown away.
