The 1973 Dead tour with horns

#114016 2 years, 9 months ago
I read this guy's blog from time to time, he's super in depth, with some really interesting stuff:

lostlivedead.blogspot.com/

He has a write up on the GD with horn players.

Did you ever listen to any of the 1973 GD tour when they had two horn players for part of the show? I wouldn't want it to have been a permanent thing, but for the novelty of it all, it's pretty cool. The show from providence that I listened to was cool.

One of the horn players was Martin Fierro who played in Legion of Mary.
These are the good old days!!

Thank you for the article link. Yeah I've listened to the Sep. '73 horn tour and at first I liked it and liked that the horns added something different. But by the end of September I was glad the horns moved on .. started getting a tad annoying
I went walkin' out last summer
Tryin' to find a breath of air
I went walkin' on the mountain
A friend had told me I'd find you there

yup joe ellis and martin fierro

some really neat shit. they really only sat in during wake of the flood stuff released that year as they are on the recorded album with a couple exception tunes..

it adds a nice touch like denver man says, but there are times where it is straight annoying. the band obviously realized it too after a little bit.
who else is gonna bring you, a broken arrow?
