stadium show?

#112846 2 years, 9 months ago
Do you guys ever think furthur would do maybe one stadium show?! like a RFK date or a Giants Stadium date? I know it might sound like an unrealistic thing but im pretty sure if they did a shit ton of people would go.

Highly doubtful. If I remember correctly they (at least Phil) never really liked playing stadiums because it was too hard to have a connection with that large of a crowd.

Plus, even at current ticket prices, they would only fill about half the stadium, if that.

I am enjoying the smaller venues, crowds, scene, etc..

Makes it more personal, with great sound!

Cuthbert in Eugene comes to mind. Music aside, I think I enjoyed the shows there more than at Red Rocks!
Takin' it in stride!

I can't imagine that there would be enough interest. I mean, they didn't sell out the first two nights of the NYE run and that is only a 7000 seat auditorium.
The Sailor, coming out again, the lady fairly leapt at him.
That's how it stands today. You decide if he was wise.

yeah but the thought of it, it would be a pretty cool thing to experience. maybe they could sell out like a soccer stadium like phish did two years ago. my last furthur show was in indy and that only seats 2,700 pretty cool

I much prefer the smaller, more intimate vibe, even its a place like MSG. I was always very impressed that the Dead could put their "thing" across in some vast arena like RFK and some of my all time favorite shows, like 6/17/91, were played in stadiums. Still, at this point, I'm perfectly happy that I don't have to add several hours to my concert experience just getting in and out of the parking lot.

The only way it would draw a crowd and sound remotely good, is if Billy and Mickey were in the lineup. The power can easily be stadium worthy with the actual percussion that is Grateful Dead. Anything less is for theaters and halls....bye bye.

I didn't like stadium shows back in the 90's let alone now... The Silver Bowl in Vegas is the exception ...
I went walkin' out last summer

I went walkin' on the mountain
A friend had told me I'd find you there
