I dont' think this qualifies as obscure, but it came late and was a little played gem.

Top is without vid, but a better version I think.

With the internet, what's Obscure anymore? You've probably already heard this.
Years ago I got a tape of Terrapin outtakes. At the end was a song labeled No Man is Perfect, which is actually called Equinox.
You can hear it here:

If you haven't heard this, you might enjoy some of the other stuff too.

You can see why they only did it once. I remember this is when I remember Phil saying that he and Brent's
voices worked well together. I'm not saying that's not true, but this song just didn't seem to.

Lyrics By: Jab Jones, Will Shade
Music By: Jab Jones, Will Shade
I know they're gonna run to me
When they get across the sea
Every chance to win when Washington lands in France
All safe for now sugar baby

Oh mama don't you weep and moan
Uncle Sam got your man and gone
Now they're doing the Lindy Bird across the sea

Oh mama how can it be
You went way across the sea
Just to keep from doing that Lindy Bird with me
Oh baby well I done told you now

You should have seen me with my uniform on
I could Lindy just as sure as you're born
And then I'd do that Lindy Bird with you

I asked her for a piece of banana
She said let me play the blues on your piano
And then I'll do that Lindy Bird with you
She said she had a dream about a submarine (note 1)

I asked her for a glass of kaola
She said let me play the blues on your victrola
And then I'll do the Lindy Bird with you

A Memphis Jug Band song played in the early days of the Dead.

(1) Weir sometimes sang this line "Mary had a dream about a yellow submarine." And with Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions, Garcia sang the last two verses in the reverse order, with Weir singing this line as "Roses ain't blue but I love you now" (thanks to Brian Schnapp for pointing this out).

Don't know how rare it is but its one of my favorites, it just sounds so layed back and fun.

ALICE D. MILLIONARE

Lyrics By: Grateful Dead
Music By: Grateful Dead

You say you're living in a world of trouble
All your schemes have popped like a bubble
Your mother told your sister
And your brother told your friend
Now your secret's out, and you don't have to pretend
You can see for yourself, it's really not the end

You're standing there with tears in your eyes
There's too much going on now, there's no time to cry

You say the walls are closing in on you child
All your friends have put you in exile
Bad luck seems to follow you all around the world
You can't seem to find no peace of mind girl
You will take a chance to seem so bad

Every minute is a brand new dayv
And there are some games that I'd just love to play
Even bad scenes are for real, there's no time to cry

Since you left your old scene behind you
Go ahead and let the green light find you
It's warm and friendly girl and it won't blind you
Come out in the street and the weeds won't grind you
See the love is in the air, you feel it all around you

Your yesterday's are all left behind
There's a brand new light in your mind
You don't need a key to define
What's written on the magic sign
There's no time to cry

When the season of the magic lantern
Is transformed into a funny pattern
And the wheel of fortune has a flat tire
You can't seem to get any higher
When you go above the [?] machine, you find a horseshoe
Everybody is either making love...Or else expecting rain

The Only Time is Now

A very early example of Grateful Dead Zen philosophy. Doesn't really sound like the Grateful Dead, but it's fun anyway.

Everybody's favorite, Slewfoot! Back in the day, we'd always joke that the boys were gonna break out Slewfoot, a song most deadheads never knew existed. Thanks to the intwerwebz, you can hear it now!
