10-19-89 from the spectrum in Philly. Actually watching it on you tube. Almost done the first set. The hell in a bucket and blow away so far are killer.

I know I am in the minority here but I never found this show to be that great. In fact '77 is far from my favorite year. Now 74 and 76 those were smokin years!

I think the big deal about this show is the sound quality. Listening to it you feel, at least to me, like you're actually in the audience. You can hear the crowd very clearly, which can be at times quite amusing. It might have something to do with the fact that this particular show was recorded 10 feet away from the stage, using apparently an unorthodox type of mic rarely used by tapers.

My antidote to the Barton syndrome! But I enjoy the slightly slower, drippy psychedelic sound of 74 and 76 over 77.
