Life is sweeter for this!

RIP Tommy Ardolino of NRBQ

#109263 2 years, 6 months ago
Tommy Ardolino, the drummer for NRBQ for over 30 years, passed away yesterday. I haven't found a lot of NRBQ fans around here, but they and their songs are near and dear to my heart. No other band, GD included, was/is ever more fun live than the Q. Tommy provided the R for rhythm in NRBQ and did it with quiet class. He will be missed by his fans, me included.

And he even sang sometimes (comments by WSP)

Saw them once, opening for REM. Always thought they were under appreciated for sure.

I've been listening to Tales From the Golden Road and co-host Gary Lambert gave a nice tribute to Tommy. It turns out that Gary is an old friend of NRBQ and actually managed them from 1998-2005. As for me, I saw them a few times back in the 1980's in the D.C. area and they were a lot of fun. I always liked their song "Me and the Boys", which both Bonnie Raitt and Dave Edmunds recorded.

Really sorry to hear this. I saw NRBQ a few times and they were always certifiably great. Truly the musician's musicians.
