I don't know if this barking barking up the wrong tree or even possible but I was just wondering what others thought about bringing "Wolf" out of the vault and letting John K play it one show. I'm a John K fan and think it would be such a heartfelt tear jerking moment if Phil brought it out at one show(The Vibes) and let John K channel through that for the night!! Talk about passing the mantle or whatever, I think there would be a few tears flowing from that...

i bet if you asked john he'd love that idea. hell if phil can let ryan adams play it i don't see why it would be a stretch to let any one play it that wants to.

Regretfully Wolf is not in the vault. Wolf was returned to the luthier...Doug Irwin in accordance with the provisions in Garcia's will and sold at auction.

Founding Member of the Chicago Based Band "Sonia Dada", Dan Pritzker won the Guernsey Auction on May 8, 2002 for Wolf at $700,000, but after "Buyer's Comminsion" paid $789,500. Dan played it on almost every tune on Sonia Dada's last record Test Pattern.

7/15/05 Phil and Friends, Jimmy Herring plays wolf which was on loan from it's current owner.

I'm reading and reading and all I can find out about Wolf is that it was bought for $789,500 and is in a private collection kept in a climate controlled room in a private residence at Utica, N.Y.
This is what I'm finding.... any other info on Wolf?
