A Winter's Night

#100767 2 years, 10 months ago
The day's light has dwindled to but a few hours. We settle into winter's schedule, leaving and returning home in darkness. Like a veil of secrecy, it conceals our movement. The blackness is interrupted only by the flicker of neon and distant headlights. Storefronts come into view. Blinking holiday displays appeal to our sense of warmth and hope in this, our desolate time. The hearth burns brightly through the evening. We pray the glow of fire and radiators will maintain us through the season of chills. We are small and the night time, vast. Our bodies are soft and the ground, hard. But while the elements are cold and impersonal, we are filled with love and purpose.
